An architect from Barcelona died on 26 December 2025 at his apartment in Baqueira, in the Val d'Aran in Lleida province. He had travelled there with his partner for the Christmas holidays. After being taken ill following a dinner he was treated at the hospital in Vielha, and returned to the apartment with her the day after his admission. He died there on St Stephen's Day. His partner had not called the emergency services about his condition, which drew the suspicion of the Catalan police and led in time to her arrest as the alleged perpetrator of an offence of homicide. She was detained in Madrid on Wednesday 23 September 2026. On Friday 25 September she appeared before the court of first instance at Vielha, which took her statement and, as the prosecution had requested, ordered her committal to preventive prison, avoidable on bail of 80,000 euros. She paid the sum at the court within two hours and was released on provisional liberty. She is 64 and a member of a well-known hotel-business family.
