About, corrections & takedown
Why this exists
The news cycle forgets quickly. mementomorti — "remember that they died" — is a non-commercial archive that keeps a dignified, source-bound record of homicide victims in Europe, and follows each case through the justice system so that outcomes are not lost. Per non dimenticare.
It is a documentation project, not an accusation. It names no one, blames no group, and makes no population-level claims. Please read the methodology and limitations before drawing conclusions.
Principles
- Fact-based and source-driven; every entry is traceable to original reporting.
- No anonymous allegations; no naming of individuals.
- Legal status is clearly distinguished and tracked over time.
- Corrections are made openly and logged.
- Methodology and limitations are documented in public.
Corrections
If an entry is inaccurate or out of date, tell us. Each case page includes a report option. A correction request should include the case, what is wrong, and — ideally — a link to a source from our approved list. Confirmed corrections are applied and recorded in the entry's public corrections log.
Removal / takedown
We aim to minimize harm. Because entries name no individuals, most privacy concerns are already addressed by design. Even so, you may request review or removal of an entry — for example, where a case was dismissed or a person acquitted, or where continued listing is no longer justified. Requests are reviewed individually and in good faith.
Reporting a false report
If you believe an entry is based on a false or retracted report, flag it via the report option on the case page. Such entries are re-reviewed against their sources and corrected or removed as warranted.
