A 30-year-old woman was found critically injured on the evening of Sunday 26 July 2026 at the address in Nærbø, in Hå municipality in Rogaland, where she lived with her partner. Passers-by alerted the police, who found her partner at the address. She was taken to Stavanger University Hospital and died of her injuries the following day. Her cohabiting partner, a man in his 30s, was charged with the killing. He denies criminal liability; through his defence lawyer he has said that she began bleeding from the nose and vomiting blood and that he called for help himself. He was remanded in custody for four weeks with restrictions on letters, visits and media access, and his appeal against the remand was rejected. Police have said the man was already under investigation over a criminal case opened on 17 July 2026 in which he was charged with violence against the same woman. Both had been questioned and that case was still under investigation when she was killed. The family's lawyer has described the case as a foreseeable tragedy, and the police have said they will return to questions about what preventive measures were considered.
