En mann ble natt til 3. september 2026 funnet med skuddskader i Messeområdet like utenfor Tønsberg sentrum. Han ringte selv AMK rundt klokken 01.30 og fortalte at han var blitt skutt i brystet. Skadene stemte overens med forklaringen. Han ble først kjørt til traumemottaket ved Sykehuset i Vestfold og deretter fløyet videre til Ullevål. Tilstanden ble betegnet som alvorlig, men stabil. Saken etterforskes som drapsforsøk. Hendelsesforløpet er fremdeles ukjent, politiet har ingen konkrete mistenkte, og ingen var pågrepet. Fornærmede var ikke avhørt, da han ikke hadde vært i stand til å avgi forklaring. Politiet har snakket med vitner og oppsøkt adresser i området for å søke etter spor. A man in his 70s died after a violent incident in Tromsø during the night to Tuesday 18 August 2026. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder. Police were called out at 3.30am to a report of noise. By the time they arrived, shortly before 4am, the matter had escalated to a serious act of violence. The man in his 40s was armed with what police describe as an edged chopping weapon, and officers stopped him using an electroshock weapon. The prosecution leader said that was a specific assessment made by the patrol that arrived, and that there was also a focus on life-saving first aid, which was why it was necessary. The incident happened in an ordinary residential block, and the two men lived at the same address. Police say that as far as they know there is no family relationship between the accused and the deceased, and that no preceding conflict between them has been uncovered. Establishing the motive, the relationship between those involved and the sequence of events is described as central to the investigation. The accused gave a free and independent statement over a two-hour interview. He is being looked after by health personnel and will be brought before the court for a custody hearing. The area was cordoned off and the fire service was used to evacuate residents from the building by lift, so that they would not have to pass the scene, where a substantial quantity of technical traces was being secured in the communal area. Crime scene technicians worked at the address during the day and the local police are being assisted by Kripos, the national criminal investigation service.

A man in his 50s was killed in Sandnes, in Rogaland, on 17 August 2026. A man in his 20s has been arrested and charged with his murder. Police said in a press release on the Monday morning that the two were father and son, a relationship the defence lawyer confirmed: the deceased was the accused's father. The first report of a serious violent incident reached the police through the emergency medical service at 4.02am, and officers went straight to the address. The accused was arrested at the scene. A neighbour described officers approaching the door behind shields, and said the suspect was standing there with his hands up and surrendered immediately. The defence lawyer said his client admits criminal guilt on the charge as it stands, has given a detailed statement and is clearly affected by what has happened. He consented to four weeks in pre-trial custody, to be decided by the court without a hearing. Police said the investigation was at an early stage, that it was too early to say anything about the sequence of events, and that they would not comment on what had been seized. They were alerted to the case by the emergency medical service, and what was said in that call forms part of the continuing investigation.

A 30-year-old woman was found critically injured on the evening of Sunday 26 July 2026 at the address in Nærbø, in Hå municipality in Rogaland, where she lived with her partner. Passers-by alerted the police, who found her partner at the address. She was taken to Stavanger University Hospital and died of her injuries the following day. Her cohabiting partner, a man in his 30s, was charged with the killing. He denies criminal liability; through his defence lawyer he has said that she began bleeding from the nose and vomiting blood and that he called for help himself. He was remanded in custody for four weeks with restrictions on letters, visits and media access, and his appeal against the remand was rejected. Police have said the man was already under investigation over a criminal case opened on 17 July 2026 in which he was charged with violence against the same woman. Both had been questioned and that case was still under investigation when she was killed. The family's lawyer has described the case as a foreseeable tragedy, and the police have said they will return to questions about what preventive measures were considered.

A man in his 70s was stabbed to death at a detached house in Kløfta, in Akershus, on 30 June 2026. His son was charged with the killing and has admitted stabbing him, but claims he acted in self-defence. On 5 August 2026 the suspect was released from pre-trial custody after the Supreme Court rejected the prosecution's appeal against release, against the wishes of the prosecuting authority. He remains charged and is subject to a visitation ban pending trial. The appeal court had found a very strong probability that the killing was intentional rather than lawful self-defence. A surviving brother of the accused reacted strongly to the release.

A woman was killed in the municipality of Hurdal, in Akershus, on 5 August 2025. According to the indictment she was stabbed 53 times. On 1 August 2026 it was reported that her 28-year-old son had been indicted for the killing. The prosecution considers that he was psychotic at the time of the act, and the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered an indictment seeking his committal to compulsory psychiatric care rather than a prison sentence. His defence lawyer said he has not denied what happened. The case is due to be heard at Romerike og Glåmdal District Court in late November 2026.

A man was stabbed at an address in the Møllenberg district of Trondheim at about 1.30pm on Saturday 29 March 2025. He suffered a cut to the heart that caused cardiac arrest, and survived after emergency treatment at St. Olav's hospital. Two other people were stabbed in the same incident: one was struck seven times, sustaining superficial wounds, and another was stabbed once in the upper arm. In August 2026 a man in his 40s was indicted for attempted murder over the attack. He denies criminal liability; his defence counsel says he acted in self-defence.

Two people were found killed at a house in Ski, in Akershus outside Oslo, on Saturday 14 December 2024: a woman in her seventies and her son, a man in his forties. A third member of the household, the woman's daughter and the man's sister, then in her forties, was arrested and charged with both killings. All three were registered at the same address. In the days after the killings her defence lawyer said she had given a detailed account, accepted criminal guilt as charged at that stage and wished to cooperate with the police, and that the police had requested a preliminary psychological assessment. Her trial ran for five days at Follo og Nordre Østfold district court. On Friday 21 August 2026 the state prosecutor asked for a sentence of 17 years' imprisonment, arguing that the killings were carried out in a particularly ruthless manner against two people who were in her care and who trusted her. Counsel for the victims' family sought damages, compensation and forfeiture of her inheritance rights. Her defence asked for acquittal. What happened was not disputed at trial. The accused admitted killing her mother and her brother but did not accept criminal guilt, and the question before the court was whether she was criminally sane at the time. A forensic psychiatric assessment was central to the case: court-appointed experts diagnosed severe depression with psychotic symptoms. The mother died of heavy pressure to the neck, according to the forensic pathologists. The brother was killed with a knife; the court heard that considerable force had been used and that one of the stab wounds had passed through a rib. Evidence at trial described a household in severe decay, and the woman had taken on an increasing and very extensive care burden at home from 2015 onwards. On 8 September 2026 the court acquitted her, finding that she lacked criminal responsibility at the time of the acts and that there was no basis for committal to compulsory mental health care. She was ordered to pay over 400,000 kroner in compensation to her surviving brother but did not lose her inheritance rights. The prosecutor said it would be for the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide whether to appeal.

A 30-year-old man disappeared in Oslo on 29 September 2024. In the night leading into 30 September he drove to the Torshov area of the city, and his mobile phone was in use until the following morning. There has been no sign of life from him since. Police initially treated the case as a disappearance, but from the spring of 2025 they investigated it as a killing. In February 2026 they released a photograph of the car he had used on the night he vanished. His body has not been found and no cause of death has been established. On 10 September 2026 a man in his 30s was arrested and charged with the killing. Oslo District Court ordered him held in custody for four weeks with a ban on letters and visits. He denies criminal guilt through his defence counsel. Police have said the two had some form of relationship but have not described it, and have not ruled out further arrests. The man was already in custody in connection with a separate case that is under appeal. Counsel for the bereaved family said they had been told of the arrest and hoped it would help bring an answer to what happened.

A man was stabbed to death outside a flat at Mørkved, outside Bodø town centre, in the night leading into 6 July 2010. Police were alerted that a person was bleeding heavily outside the flat. He was declared dead at the scene about an hour later, with multiple stab wounds. The next morning police arrested his 56-year-old landlord and friend, who had blood on his clothes and an injury to his face. He admitted stabbing the victim in the thigh but denied responsibility for the killing. Salten District Court convicted him and sentenced him to eleven years in prison. In February 2012 the Hålogaland Court of Appeal convicted him again and increased the sentence to twelve years, and the Supreme Court refused leave to appeal. In 2023 the Norwegian Criminal Cases Review Commission ordered the case reopened. It had considered a 2018 police interview in which a person described a conversation with a relative who was said to have confessed to the killing a few months before her death. After a renewed investigation with assistance from Kripos, the prosecution indicted the man for the killing again in September 2026, re-using the 2011 indictment. The Frostating Court of Appeal will decide whether he is convicted or acquitted. He has always denied the killing.
