A 42-year-old woman was killed with an axe in the village of Skalin, in Gryfice County in Poland's West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on Monday 25 August 2026. Her body was found in a residential garden. Her 21-year-old son was detained late that evening on suspicion of the killing. Prosecutors declined to disclose a motive, and charges were expected to be brought the following day. Investigators were interviewing witnesses and family members.

The body of a woman of about 70 was found in an apartment on Fatimska Street in the Bieńczyce district of Kraków, Poland, shortly after 5pm on Monday 24 August 2026. A seriously injured man was found at the same address and was taken to hospital immediately. The district prosecutor's office in Kraków opened an investigation into the woman's killing, stating that preliminary findings indicated homicide. Investigators recovered what they described as the weapon used; the prosecutor's office declined to say what it was, but confirmed it was not a firearm. The injured man was identified by the prosecutor's office as the victim's 41-year-old son. He was in a life-threatening condition and remained in a pharmacologically induced coma following surgery, and had therefore not been questioned; investigators said they were waiting for him to regain consciousness and for medical clearance to interview him. The investigation was opened into the offence rather than against any named person. No arrest or charge had been announced at the time of the cited reports.

A 46-year-old woman was shot in the head on a stairwell of a building on ul. Wielka Rybacka in Swarzędz, about 15 kilometres east of Poznań, at around 3.25pm on Saturday 15 August 2026. A passer-by found her unconscious and she was taken to hospital in serious condition. She died there on the evening of Tuesday 18 August. Her former partner, a 51-year-old man, is accused of shooting her with a black-powder weapon. He fled the scene and hid for two days before officers of the criminal department detained him in Swarzędz on the evening of Sunday 16 August; he indicated a rucksack containing the weapon, which was seized for laboratory examination. He admitted the act in questioning and, according to the prosecution service, said he had done it because he could not accept the couple's separation about a month earlier. He was charged with attempted murder at the district prosecutor's office in Poznań-Wilda and remanded in custody. After the victim died the charge was upgraded to murder, which carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment.

The body of a 53-year-old woman was found in an apartment in the Ochota district of Warsaw over the weekend of 1-2 August 2026, concealed in a shopping bag and in an advanced state of decomposition. Police discovered her while assisting with a welfare check requested by a resident of the building. The date of the killing has not been established in public reporting. A 32-year-old man was detained the same day in the Włochy district of the city and admitted to the act. He was placed in a detention facility and further investigative steps are planned. No charge has been reported.

A woman was killed in Chojna, in the Gryfino district of West Pomerania, and her body was found at around 10:00 on Monday 20 July 2026. Officers from the prevention division, tracker dogs and drones were deployed in the search for the suspect, with support from officers in Szczecin. Her 19-year-old son was detained as the probable perpetrator less than three hours after the body was found. According to reporting from the scene, the killing is believed to have arisen from family disputes. The case has been taken over by the district prosecutor's office in Gryfino. No charge decision has been reported.

A 16-year-old girl was killed in Mława, in Poland's Masovian Voivodeship, on the evening of 23 April 2025, the day she met the suspect. She was reported missing the following day, and her body was found on 1 May 2025 in scrubland near a production plant belonging to the suspect's family. A post-mortem examination found that she died of extensive head injuries caused by multiple blows. The suspect, who was 17 at the time, was known to the victim and was charged in May 2025 with murder committed with particular cruelty. He was detained in Greece and surrendered to Poland under a European Arrest Warrant. On 13 August 2026 the district prosecutor's office in Płock closed its investigation and filed an indictment against him, now 18, at the regional court in Płock. Twenty witnesses were questioned and 21 expert opinions obtained during the proceedings. He faces up to 30 years' imprisonment and remains in pre-trial detention until the end of September. Experts assessed that his mental state allows him to take part in the proceedings and conduct his own defence.

Two teenage girls disappeared in Radzymin, in Masovia, on 6 August 2000. They had been at a local fête with friends and were due home at about eleven o'clock at night, but never reached the meeting arranged with their parents. Despite the involvement of the police and of the local community, it was not established for more than twenty years what had happened to them. The proceedings were discontinued and their bodies were never found. Officers of the homicide and criminal terror unit of the metropolitan police headquarters reopened the investigation. Analysis of the evidence, and a reconstruction of the sequence of events at the fête, identified the people who had last seen the two girls alive. Two men who had been in the victims' company on the day of the disappearance were charged with their murder in connection with repeated collective rape, and an indictment against them was filed with the court. A third suspect, a 45-year-old already serving a sentence for similar offences, was not ultimately included in the indictment for want of sufficient evidence. The metropolitan police said close cooperation between the National Prosecutor's Office and the unit's officers had allowed the proceedings to be concluded.
